No search feature or filters so I can only see the main stories. Very limited amount of stories, would rather just go on safari and find my news
  • Horrible App.

This app is horrible, horrible, horrible for one reason only. Stop wasting my time. Put the back page arrow in the upper left hand corner (like every other app), NOT the bottom left. What idiot decided this was a good idea?
  • April 24 application update problems

Since the NYT app was updated, not all of the photos and news articles are being displayed. I have the latest iOS (17.4.1) on my iPhone 13 mini. I restarted my iPhone, but the app issues were not resolved.

  • Shame on NYT

Slow, buggy, freezes without explanation, hard to navigate, not the complete newspaper, no offline capabilities. The list of the app deficiencies goes on and on. This has nothing to do with the content of the newspaper itself (which at times seems questionable, eg Wirecutter … really are we expected to believe these product ‘reviews’ are anything more than the personal preferences of a few writers)? The app is a daily reminder to this many-decades subscriber to the NYT to question why he continues his subscription. Update: (Dec 13, 2023) Even more awful with each update. Previous comment focused on deficiencies. Now it just doesn’t work. If an Ad doesn’t download immediately, the App freezes in place and doesn’t allow scrolling beyond. Browsers solved this problem 25 years ago. Just an awfully designed and implemented piece of SW. Update (Apr 25, 2024) App performance steadily moving downhill. Technique of providing News in real-time update fashion broken. App keeps revising view such that reading is impossible. Completely dysfunctional performance, App should never have been released in this shape.
  • Ads vs Coverage

I love the Times & read it daily on the app. Lately, however, the addition of jumpy, auto play ads that are almost impossible to avoid have seriously disrupted my reading of the news and denigrated my experience of the app. I understand the necessity of advertising to support the work of journalism, but when add are designed to distract from the reason I open the app in the first place it makes me seriously consider cancelling my subscription and getting my news elsewhere.
  • Horrible customer service

They give you all kinds of options to connect until you need to cancel your subscription. THEN you have to call someone and get the run around and excuses to stay on and told if I want to cancel I can call back again in 24-48 hours and try again. I literally just want out of my subscription and am trapped, horrible customer service.

Since the update on 4/24/2024 Wordle does not work on my iPhone 15 Pro. Please, fix it!
  • Alerts, Alerts, Alerts!!!!

I wish I could be selective about what alerts I receive. NYT spams alerts all day about “breaking news!!” Nope, not breaking. Don’t care what the useless government is or isn’t doing. Don’t care about what some rando community in rural US decided to do to combat a cricket problem. Do better NYT.
  • Cancelling is a headache. BEWARE

For the NYT app, I had to call a landline number and be put on hold for 18 minutes to cancel.
