  • Scanner appears useless on MFC7860DW

...and probably other older printers. The scan function is a brick without purchasing third party software.

it opened brother website safari and the link contained my printer's serial number and other trackers. So, now they linked my ip with my serial number and who knows what else (in encoded form). This is despite me having data collection option UNCHECKED. Scummy.

Worked fairly well initially. Now I get a constant SMB server connection error till I unistall the application and it will not open at all.

Unlike the many apps that are loaded with features I never use and never will (and never did over a career that began before the invention of personal computers), this tool does only a few things. All it has to do is work - and it does. No complaints.
  • Needs updating

This app needs to be updated for Apple Silicon/Universal. Current app is just Intel. One of only two I intel-only apps that I regularly use. Also, it shouldn't try (unless you ask it to) to sell you toner cartridges. I buy mine from a local store a couple of miles from here. Still, I find Brother the most cost-effective for me.

MacOS already has a way to print from most applications. Don't force us to use airprint or this lame app.
  • Memory leak

Version 11.0.1 for mac seems to have a memory leak. It is using 1.3 GB of RAM on my mac.
  • Great App for Scanning

Like others I do not understand the negative reviews. Perfect scans. Easy and intuitive. Lots of saved format options. Easy to save a scan to my Mac or email as an attachment or open in Preview. Easy to rotate or add pages. You cannot preview scans, so if that feature is important look elsewhere. I use the app for scanning only. Installed my new brother MCF–L2750DW by going to System Settings, Printers & Scanners, and selecting Add Printer, Scanner, Fax. Took less than a minute. Prints flawlessly. My needs are probably more basic than other reviewers but I really like this app and appreciate its simplicity.

USing the simplest USB connection the Brother Iprint and Scan app does not even recognize the printer as connected. Fortunately the apple system settings allow direct use of the printer
  • Total Garbage - Don't buy this printer because of this software

Obviously Brother doesn't care about its customers. You can't preview your scan, so you have to scan the ENTIRE screen, even when doing just a 5x7. What year are you living in, Brother? How is this even possible? You also can't specify a save location. Great job, losers!
