    How to become more aware and relaxed was a great help to me during this morning’s session on “Taming Your Anxiety”. This session, which focuses on the “Full-Body Scan,” walks the listener through a gentle, gradual review of the feelings being experienced from the “grounding” of the self, feet on the floor to the top of the head. I call it a “cultivation of awareness” without self-judgment and enabled me to start my morning without becoming anxious about what is ahead for the day!
  • A meditation app like no other

    I recently gave my DBT psychotherapy group a short list of my favorite meditation apps. The list has changed slightly over time, but I always put Ten Percent at the top. While I don’t use it as regularly anymore for myself because my practice has become simpler and self directed, I do come back to it because it has so many great meditations, teachings, and talks. They are good reminders. In a world full of buzzwords about mindfulness and self proclaimed experts, I find Ten Percent to be and remain the real thing. When new to meditation, it’s important to learn from long term practitioners and respected teachers and to have access to meditations that are of different lengths and applicable in various situations. I would like to see more options for advanced practitioners in the future on the app, including retreats. Also, offering a less costly version to students and people in lower income brackets would be great. Some of my clients mentioned high cost as a deterrent. Very grateful to the team who created and upkeeps the app!

    I’ve been a loyal podcast listener to 10% Happier since discovering an interview during the return driving trip of a difficult artist residency. Just last week I finally downloaded and committed to the app. It’s already exceeded my expectations and reluctance to have yet another something on my “Samsara device” aka my iPhone. I thought I was an experienced practitioner of mindfulness. As an artist and creativity coach I guide viewers and clients through mindful awareness of the world and of their own connection to creative flow. But I’ve been missing a tether to help me do the same for myself. As someone with a late diagnosis of ADHD, and a mind that is constantly doing the tango - with wild fluctuations and emotional storms - the gentle basic instructions of Joseph Goldstein has just blown my mind back to Beginner mode. And it feels so good - infusing my old meditation practice with freshness and new wisdom. Thank you Dan Harris and team (I kinda feel like I know you all!) - I feel like I’m starting over… and it feels liberating and real ❤️

  • I do love the app and its content, but a lot of glitches

    I love listening to the podcasts ad-free and the guided meditations. There is a lot of wonderful content and I think Dan does a fabulous job. I have a new phone, but more often than not I have to quit the app because there are a lot of glitches, such as not playing anything when it says it is, the dial will be moving but there is silence, or the app stops playing when I lock my phone. Again, I have to quit the app. I haven’t experienced this issue in any of my other apps.

    It may seem excessive to say this, but using the app to meditate has changed my life for the better. I now meditate for at least 10 minutes every morning, usually from my list of favourite meditations. Many of the podcasts address issues I’m dealing with in my life.
