  • Too spammy since last major version update

It does what it says it does, tracks one’s cycle and the prediction algorithm is pretty spot on. Viewing historical data is also cool. So those are the reasons I use the app and what works for me. At the same time, with the last major version that others are also mentioning, came a few changes that are frustrating to me. For example, the banners - that I use to remind me of my cycle’s end coming up - also push “article recommendations.” I can not tell you how much I don’t care about your articles and how much I dislike these irrelevant banners interrupting my focus when they pop up. Then there are the banners and pop-ups in the app as well. You can close out the pop-up, then hide the banner, which then brings up ANOTHER banner saying “we have hid this banner for a month”, then you need to hide that banner too. Now you can proceed with logging your data. I do not care for this new approach to push more content. I used to be a subscriber, then I decided to “vote with my money” and did not renew for this new version. With the overuse of banners I’m starting to feel inclined to turn off app notifications, which ultimately would lead to my deleting the app altogether as without the reminders I’m not getting any value out of it.
  • Money grab

The app is good to use and offers a lot of features if you do not pay. The downside is that you cannot access what you chart AFTERWARDS unless you pay. Once you chart you have to scroll back through the months instead of getting a clean list of your analysis which was much easier to use in a doctors office. I could tell my doctor how many periods had different flows or symptoms but now I have to scroll through months and months to see what I documented. It will also constantly ask you to subscribe. This app has become an unfortunate money grab.
  • paywalled

this was my go-to period tracker for a few years, but now almost everything is locked behind a paywall. i used to be able to review an analysis of my cycle based on the data collected and now it costs $7.99/month to access it. there was no communication sent out to let users know about this change ahead of time. it’s a real shame because clue seems to be one of the only period apps that’s mostly reliable when it comes to data security. really disappointing. if i could give this zero stars, i would.

The app used to be great-even the basic version. You had access to basic but helpful information. Now, everything is paywalled and every click leads you to a pop up to pay for the subscription. I
  • FIX THE UX

Recent updates have made the app feel spammy. There are ways to drive subscriptions without making your loyal free users (me, 9 years!!!) feel like they’re being hunted for sport. Please fix this!
  • Very helpful period tracker

This app is super helpful for tracking my period! I appreciate the fertile window in the free version. I dropped a star, though, because of how pushy they are for you to upgrade to the full version. I have everything I need in the free version, but anytime I do literally anything in the app, there is a pop up trying to sell me the paid version. I get it, they gotta make money somehow, but it’s annoying nonetheless.
  • stole my data

this app stole my personal biometric data and wants me to pay to get it back. nearly 10 years of my data is behind a paywall! at least warn your users or allow them to download their data before you hide everything.
  • App has gone downhill

App used to be great and now puts core functionality behind a paywall. Lots of ads to get users to upgrade to the paid tier.

Getting notifications about your period can be embarrassing, but if it’s once a month, the odds of someone seeing it are pretty low. I have my preferences set to that little warning. Great! Except… I get notifs asking me to “join Clue Plus!” and “unlock (x) features!” regularly. I got two today, and I’m not even due for another week. I’ve never written a review before, but… ugh. There’s marketing a paid subscription, and then there’s being a nuisance. I fully understand the importance of supporting developers and getting paid for putting in the work for helpful software. But I have no interest in knowing all that stuff— I’m blessedly regular, and I just want a tracker that sends me a notification once a month. And I can’t just switch to another period tracker, all my data is on this one! I know that, and I think the devs know that too. :(
