I feel like this keeps me in top of not only what is going on in Washington; where I live now. It also helps me keep tabs on my family in California. I lived through the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989 and the anxiety it has caused me ever since was somewhat relieved with this app. I know when there is activity and I can at least check on family if there is an earthquake in their area. I am also a geology enthusiast so this feeds my curiosity about what is going on with our beautiful planet and how the earths crust is constantly on the move.

Used this app for years, but every time a larger earthquake hits their servers are too busy to update app. Smaller local quakes it works fine and very useful.

Originally held setting now will not show the map of the whole world. It will not show my geographic area. It’s very frustrating.
  • Very glitchy App

Regrettably this app has been utterly useless when we really need the information updates in southern Japan. It completely fails to respond quite often.

App is unable to get updates since July 17 2025 so zero earthquakes are listed. Maybe the USGS server that collects this data has changed?

This is a great app I use to get insight into earthquakes that have recently occurred. I occasionally open the app for fun to see what quakes have happened during the day. I know it odd behavior, but I guess other geologists would understand.

There’s a plethora of data to scan through. I’m new at this…I’m sure with time I’ll catchup. It’s almost as if I need to be an expert, immediately. Maybe I’m just not used to setting up the app yet. How difficult, or perhaps you’ve thought of this already, is it to provide a beginner level, journeymen level…on up to a PhD-Vulcanologist level. I’ve changed rating, to 5-star. I think perhaps I’m just overwhelmed with data. Your app is very, very good…almost too good. That comment seems counterintuitive, but often newbies get overwhelmed due too much data. I’ll get first dog paddle, then learn to float. I hope I’ll be diving like an expert in this sea of excellent data. I’ll be able to see the forest an not just individual trees, unless I want to narrow down my focus to a pinpoint to best understand the cosmos of the ring of fire.
