Description

I've always liked wearing a lunar complication on my Apple Watch. There is something both visually delightful but yet also slightly geeky about it. But I was unable to find a complication that provided an astronomically accurate moon display...which just kinda bothered me. So I made Geneva Moon. Geneva Moon seeks to provide a highly accurate, visually pleasing indication of what the moon looks like right now, right where you are. My goal was to make it so that if you look down at your wrist and then up into the sky the images you see should match. It includes a robust set of complications for every watch face type.   Choose between either a visually rich 'actual ' appearance or a more simplified version, to fit your own personal style. The main display indicates the current azimuth and elevation of the moon along the horizon along with a visual indication of its phase and orientation. Rotate the Digital Crown to shift forward and backwards through time and see how the moon will shift (tap on the screen to reset to now) On Apple Watches equipped with a compass (Series 5) you can have Geneva Moon orient itself towards the actual moon to make it easier to locate the moon in the sky. Thank you for considering Geneva Moon, I hope you enjoy having the moon on your wrist as much I do. —Dave

Amazing complication and I still use it. Only now I use the stock moon for display on my watch because it shows the actual moon graphic. Geneva Moon complication does not show the actual moon graphic anymore for some reason. It’s the same as the simple graphic. Have reinstalled and changed the settings but just stays simple. So I use the apple moon now for display then I go to app dock and launch Geneva for more moon info. Another issue now is the arrow buttons don’t seem to work anymore. I think it just needs some love from the developers. I am a huge fan of this complication. Maybe add a tip jar or something to give it some support and keep it updated! I’d tip!

This app just says PURCHASED and is greyed out. I bought it before, but have no way to install it on a new Apple Watch. Also, the app is broken and no longer allows you to skip from moon phase to moon phase (showing the dates when the phases will happen) by tapping the < and > symbols. I used to love this complication, but the developer is no longer supporting it and is not answering emails.

I just moved to my new S8 Apple Watch and upon downloading this app again, the “actual” version no longer works. Both appear as the “simple” render. I’ve rebooted the watch. It did work on my S5 with WatchOS 9.0. It just seems that image isn’t in the app anymore. Hope this is a simple fix Underscore…
  • Orphan APP ? (Updated)

The last update to this app was 2 years ago, which is a shame because it’s always been a favorite of mine. Now since Watch OS 9 all I can get is the Simple Moon style on my watch no matter if I select “Simple” or “Actual”. Also in the info mode the forward and back arrows are non-functional. (UPDATE 9-21-2022) Well with the Watch OS update to 9.1 the “Actual to Simple” face is working again but still no arrow interaction/function on the moon phases.

The arrows to move between moon phase dates no longer work. App delete and reinstall and watch reboot didn’t help. No response from tech support after several weeks.

I quickly got annoyed at the built in moon complication not being accurate, and it is way too gratifying to have the moon in my Geneva Moon complication match the actual moon exactly!

Purchased the app I can see the app in the watch. But I cannot setup the app. After trying a long time, I only have an option to delete it. So sorry!
  • Wish it were more customizable

Awesome concept for a stand-alone watch app, and it works well. That said, and maybe Carrot weather has me spoiled, but I find myself wishing the complications were more customizable... for example, the corner complication feels too large on the solar dial face. I’d love to be able to customize each of the complications, for example, label options to have either the moon rise time (like the stock app) or phase would be cool. I also don’t love the rendering.. the textured moon face is a little too crisp for my tastes—a slight gradient on the shadow line would help. 6/2021 Update: I’m still loving the functionality of this simple complication but I wish the moon size matched the size of the stock one. Looks funny lined up with the other circular complications on the Infograph Modular face.
  • Way better than stock moon complication

Most of the bad reviews are from people who had problems installing this watch only app. Maybe the instructions are better now, but I didn’t have any problems. Also, you need to allow location access from the watch app to update your location. I found the stock moon complication lacking and confusing. While Geneva Moon doesn’t do exactly what I wanted, it is clear and much more robust. What I was looking for was to have the complication clearly show moonrise/moonset like how the sunrise/sunset complication works. Geneva Moon has that info, but you have to open the app instead of seeing it on the watch face. Overall, if you want moon info visible from your watch face, then this is the complication for you!
