  • My thoughts on this app!

By This app is nice but…
The app is really well made but I just wish they had more languages! I’ve been wanting to learn Japanese but they don’t offer it, which is fine but sad. Although I love to use it to learn Spanish I would want to hopefully see different languages in the future!!! C:
  • Better options or just translate

I really wanted this to be good, but I found it scattered and all over the place. They would work on a section and then suddenly start sneaking in different words or terms without clarification. There’s also no bookmark feature to Mark the ones that you really want to go back to and find easily. Just wasn’t a fan and found it annoying after a while

I’m studying Spanish (Spain version) on this app and it works well. I love how it gives you reviews often, though I wish there were more lessons. The words taught in some lessons are kinda outdated too, but still good to learn. What I love the most is the podcast called Aventura on the Babbel Express. It’s interactive and very fun to listen to! I wish they would make more of this.

I purchased a subscription for this app, and now I find that it is too advanced for a beginner.
  • French

Unless you are planning to be attacked by a Bear or owning a Guinea pig, the words and phrases the French app teaches are useless.
  • babbel is a disappointment

Not user friendly if you want to learn specific subjects. assumes you know nothing even if you know some basics already.
  • Gave it another chance

After completing another language course I was looking it for something to keep myself current/brush up on the basics. I had tried Babbel before, years ago, and wasn’t impressed but I figured that they had changed. It’s still bone dry and boring, but it does a decent job of teaching you the basics. Problem is, the placement exam doesn’t place you any further than some of the earliest courses, because they want to keep you around and paying. And then even after I played along and finished the medium basic courses they told me to start at, they said “Congratulations! Now go aaaalllll the way back to the very beginning of day one Spanish. The ones BEFORE the placement test misplaced you at. You have to learn to say hello and goodbye, and spend weeks finishing all of those day one lessons from the beginning, too.” Yeah, no thanks. They got a couple of bucks out of me, but they’re not getting anymore. PS - I constantly had to close the app and reopen it to be able to progress to the next lesson. Otherwise it would just keep making me repeat the same one over and over again.
