  • Super high price, bad experience

    They jacked up their prices extremely high so that it’s now unaffordable ($180 for 6 months!). Plus I’m constantly getting spam messages from bots and when I try to send them bug reports for their buggy app and website, they gaslight me and say there’s no bug.

    Every time I open the app I get an upgrade off/free 7 day trial. Please stop this. It’s very annoying and unnecessary. There needs to be and opt out. Meetup has turned into a money grab. Not as good as it used to be.

    Pre pandemic this was such a great platform, now it’s a slog of user-hostile UX, dark patterns and transparent attempts to route you to monetization funnels. The app is not only bad at teaching you to what you actually want it actively works against you. Congrats on making line go up, meanwhile you’ve ruined one of the few places some of us had to find new friends. Enjoy your slightly larger boats.

    Every time I launch Meetup, I am confronted with an ad I am not able to dismiss, I have to close the app and relaunch it again to get to my meetups.

  • Progressive scale back of Meetup is disappointing……

    As a Meetup member for ~15 years, I must say that I’m disappointed in the scale back on features that used to be free and included. As a single woman, there was a comfort in being able to look at who the different members were and be a little more sure that you weren’t crossing pads with someone you wish to avoid or someone that seemed sketchy. Inability for non-pay members to connect and chat with new acquaintances is not helpful either. Their fee structure has led to the closure of many groups – good loyal groups. Will remain hopeful that Meetup restructures and finds funding that allows their app to return to their original intent.

    Great idea. I have done things I Would have never done had I not seen it on this app. but I would like a way to "never see this Meet up on your feed again" button for ones you have no interest in. And now that it is so money hungry is disappointing. Meet Up wants you to pay them to see the people in your group that is crazy ex

  • Just forced into a free trial?

    I didn’t realize using my print as i was asked to do was going to force me into a free trial upgrading for a paid service to use the app? I pay dues to groups annually as is and this app will reset and i don’t get notifications of events for groups I’ve paid for multiple times including the past 7 months. Unacceptable and truly unprofessional, making me loathe to even use this.

    Never shows you events in your area. Even when you click on local for some reason I am seeing only California based events.
