Description

iOverlander is a mapping app to help travelers find camping and accommodation worldwide - no matter how remote your destination. Only real places by real travelers. Unbiased and never sponsored. There is no list or robot that can ever replace what a traveler says standing right there in that spot. Typos and all, we believe the best data comes from overlanders onsite. No signal? No problem. The best places on this planet don’t have cell signal. All our data is stored on your phone, so you can plan your day without wifi. Download offline maps of entire states and countries, that give you all the tiny alleys, building footprints, and small landmarks to make travel easier. Campsites are just the beginning. Mechanics, restaurants, hotels, propane, water, wifi, shopping, laundry, showers, doctors, tourist attractions, border crossings, warnings, checkpoints, insurance, storage, shipping, consulates, banks, and more. Moderated by overlanders, not AI. Our moderators have spent a collective century on the road and 30,000 hours moderating entries. They’re not planning to stop anytime soon. But wait, there's more! In addition to finding places, you can add new ones, leave reviews, save favorites, and share places with other travelers. Subscribe to iOverlander Pro or Unlimited to download offline maps, access satellite maps, BLM and USFS overlays, save filters, search and more! Wherever you're headed, we've got your next destination. ____ Terms of Service: https://ioverlander.com/terms Privacy Policy: https://ioverlander.com/privacy_policy

  • IOverlander2 versus 1

The 2.0 version is very difficult to use and extremely clumsy. I’ve really been disappointed with the ease of use as compared to the original version.

the old version was much better. there are minimal settings unless you subscribe and the pop ups for amenity’s are so small, you can’t see anything. If the old app has bugs then please redesign this one to be similar!
  • A blatent cash grab off user data

The first generation of this app was a community effort to share and identify great places to enjoy the outdoors. Now the developers have decided to blatently cash grab by forcing people to 'download' one place at a time, trying to make the user experience so bad that you will sign up for a monthly subscription. All of this data is user generated data, just a blatent cash grab off users backs. The previous application was working just fine until the developers pushed out this pile of UI garbage and then purposefully shut down all access to the previous version. Avoid at all costs - there are much better apps out there now that actually respect their community.
  • Horrible map

Map is horrible and almost unusual, can’t find or follow major highways or find cities/areas. How does anybody use this app???
  • “New” version is worthless

As so many others have pointed out, the new version essentially forces you to get the paid subscription in order to have any real good usability. Absolutely wild to have to pay for a crowd-sourcing app. Having read some of the developer responses stating the old app had a ton of things that needed fixing is a pretty big cop-out. As one other user mentioned, the only way to use the current version free is if you’re doing more “local” trips, because it only allows you to download one state at a time. This is obviously still fairly useless if doing a bigger road trip across more remote areas without constant service to download new states as you enter them.

They didn’t even port in any locations from the prior app. I compared them side by side. Stick with the original. I followed their recommendations and the app still isn’t worth using. It just a app to get their hands as deep into your pocket as they can. Zero added value over the first app
  • Terrible - trying to force a monthly subscription

They made it worse than the original just to force people to pay a monthly fee. The value in this app was the user submitted data. There is no way I’m providing sites to this terrible group now.

IOverlander used to be a great tool, easy to use, packed full of information. I loved the ease of finding propane and dump stations while on the road, and being able to add locations to share with others. This new platform that requires a subscription is a disappointment to me. I know you want to make money at what you’re doing, and that’s deserved, but I can only pay for so many apps. I wish you’d kept the old version and offered the new one to those looking for, or requiring, more. Please bring back the original.
