Most current New Yorker subscribers have unlimited access to the app as part of their existing subscription. Subscribers with a print-only subscription may not have unlimited access. App subscribers have full access to the Web site, including the archive and most recent issue. Users who have trouble accessing stories can e-mail apps@newyorker.com for assistance. Non-subscribers may access the app by starting a free trial. A subscription costs $11.99 a month or $119.99 annually, and includes a 7-day free trial, after which it will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period and will state the cost of renewal. Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable. Subscriptions may be managed by the user, and auto-renewal may be turned off by updating the user’s App Store Subscription settings after purchase. Payment will be charged to iTunes account at confirmation of purchase. Information about our Terms of Service & Privacy Policy can be found at http://www.condenast.com/privacy-policy.

  • Will not update unless I delete and redownload the app

Up until the latest review this app worked flawlessly. Now I can’t get content to update unless I delete and redownload the app. I’ll see new articles on the website and not on my device until I do that. Also, some days the audio tab loads and other times it’s just blank. And I cannot download the print issues anymore either. I get a message saying to try another issue or try later. I can download back issues but not the current issue. Such a pain. I just subscribed and was loving it but now I’m not so sure.

Please please please - I keep wanting to read a New Yorker article before bed but am continually turned away by the blinding white, and am forced back to a NYT ‘Great Read’ instead. Don’t let your journalism be obscured!

One of the major advantages of an app like this is that you should be able to download and store magazines to review when you’re without WiFi or data service (e.g., on a plane). But because this app frequently logs you out and forces you to reauthenticate, downloaded magazines are reset (deleted), as is your place in whatever article you were reading. This is a negative change in the new app (the older versions never had this problem), and it really diminishes the value of the app and of the subscription generally. Moreover, conversations with the support function to address this were useless.

  • Incomplete archive

I use this app near daily and have increasingly looked for articles from the 1980s and earlier. These don't seem to be included in the all. Rather, you have to go through a clunky "archives" website and try to read via scanned images of the magazine pages. Very challenging. Please please update this app to include a more complete archive of the New Yorker's rich history of content.

I have a great deal of trouble opening the new weekly issues. And now the weekly comics are not listed in the table of contents! So where to find them? I also don’t care for the new format, and prefer the app that better conformed to the look of the print issue. I’m considering cancelling my subscription.
  • The app won’t let me view current issues

I’m very disappointed in this app. For years I’ve used the NYer print app that worked wonderfully. Now that you are not adding current issues to that app, I’m forced to us this app that keeps telling me that I don’t have an active subscription and won’t let me download issues. I’m getting this message in spite of being signed in and having an active subscription. I’ve tried deleting the app and downloading it again, and signing into my account over and over again. I will be canceling my subscription if this app doesn’t start to work.
  • No New Articles in 3 Days?

Ever since the newest update there have been no new articles. The app won’t refresh & just spins while I see the same content from 3 days ago. Can’t this be fixed?

Just updated in March 24 - still no dark mode - story order is whack in each edition - all of February most of January 24 are gone - no progress on crashes or lost places Development is dead. It is all marketing and clicks • • • • • • • • • • Developer Response We are sorry for this inconvenience and are happy to report that this was a bug that has been fixed. Thank you! • • • • • • • • • • The dev response touches on **one** issue listed (#3) and calls shipping Alpha software an inconvenience. There’s no explanation of no dark mode after five years. No reply on the failure to keep places in several use cases noted in dozens of reviews. This is a sad piece of software.
